Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She achieved popularity by pushing the boundaries of lyrical content in mainstream popular music and imagery in her music videos, which became a fixture on MTV. Madonna is known for reinventing both her music and image, and for maintaining her autonomy within the recording industry. Music critics have acclaimed her musical productions, which have generated some controversy. Often referred to as the "Queen of Pop", she is cited as an influence by numerous other artists around the world.
Madonna was born
on the 16th of August 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, near Detroit.
Since her mother's sad death when she was only five years
old, Madonna had to learn from a young age to adapt to whatever
life put in front of her. Coping with a great deal of responsibility
at home, Madonna took on a mothering role to her brothers
and sisters thus giving her a strong determination to succeed
at not only performing, but at being a loving mother also.
She had one important aim in life and that was to be famous.
Her moment came in 1984, with the release of her second
album 'Like a Virgin'. The following year she married actor,
Sean Penn, sadly to be divorced four years later.
As well as a singer, an actress, a composer, a producer
and an executive, Madonna can still manage to re-create
a new and exciting image that dazzles everyone again and
again; love her or loathe her she really is an amazing woman.
To date she has broken every available radio, video, sales,
and box-office record, racking up no fewer than twenty-nine
top ten singles, and her popularity continues to grow.
Madonna gave birth to Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon on the
14th of October 1996, one of the happiest moments in 'the
material girl's' life. Lourdes takes great pleasure in wearing
her mum's jewelry and shoes and pretending to be just
like mummy, a moment Madonna could only cherish.
Son, Rocco Ritchie, born on the 11th of August 2000, is
also the proud son of husband Guy Ritchie. Madonna has the
success, love and family she has always desired at last,
a beautiful start to a new millennium. The happy couple
were married on the 22nd of December 2000, at the beautiful
historic castle of Skibo, Scotland. They divorced in 2008. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility, in the same year. Having sold more than 300 million records worldwide, Madonna is recognized as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by Guinness World Records.
